The 3 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga desert will start from your accommodation in Marrakech. There are many things you will enjoy exploring and many activities to do. To start with, the first day will be a visit to the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, Ouarzazate, and the Dades Gorges. Then, we will travel further south to Merzouga. There, you will experience the most amazing camel ride and camping as Berber nomads. The last day will be mostly driving, and it is back to Marrakech.
On the first day of our 3 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga desert, we will pick you up at 8 a.m. from your Riad or another location of your choice. Then we drive across the Tizi N Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains (2260m), admiring the mountainous road and the spectacular Berber villages. Following that, we will visit the UNESCO World Heritage site “Ait Benhaddou Village,” a fortified ksar with stunning Kasbahs.
Ait Benhaddou has also been used as a natural backdrop for numerous film productions. You will walk across the river with a local guide to discover the other side. Furthermore, the Ksar and climb to the top of the hill through the alleys of Ait-ben-Haddou, which is like rambling through the Middle Ages, for an amazing view of the fertile Ounila river valley, surrounded by desert landscapes, and with the snow-capped Atlas mountains as a backdrop, the view from the top appears to encompass the entire world.
After lunch, we’ll continue our 3-day Marrakech desert tour to Dades Gorge via Ouarzazate and Skoura. Also, the long valley of roses (rose season lasts until late May). After that, when we arrive at Boumalne Dades, we will take a secondary road that leads up through the Dades Gorges. From here, we will enjoy beautiful rock formations (known as monkey fingers) and fortified Kasbah scenery along the Dades River, with the sunset as a backdrop. Following a stop at the canyons for a drink or to admire the magnificent scenery, we continue to our hotel. Dinner and overnight.
On the second day of our 3 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga desert, we continued after a traditional Breakfast, taking the road of 1000 kasbahs to drive around the colorful Berber villages of the Dades valley. To get to Tineghir, A beautiful valley of 15 km of palm trees, ending with spectacular Gorges, often used for rock climbing.
The road to the Gorge of Todgha passes green palm and Berber villages, where we go on a trek along the canyons about 300m high. After that, we will continue to Erg Chebbi dunes in the Merzouga Sahara Desert, and you will have time for lunch in Tinjdad or Touroug, depending on your hunger meter. Then, once you arrive at the dunes of Erg Chebbi, you will take a camel ride for 1 hour. While watching the sunset, we went to the camp in the oasis.
There, you will be spending the night in the camp at Merzouga Sahara dunes under nomad tents, then you will enjoy shooting stars and playing the drums with the camp staff and camels around the fire.
On the third day of our 3 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga desert, an early morning wake-up to enjoy the sunrise over the highest dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga is one of the best moments of the desert. After that, you will ride the camels back to the hotel at the foothills of Erg Chebbi dunes, where you will have a typical breakfast in the hotel, followed by a refreshing shower to dust off the sand.
Next, we will drive back to Marrakech through Alnif, Tazarine, Draa Valley, Agdez, and Ouarzazate. In Ouarzazate, we will have free time for lunch and a photo stop in front of the famous Taourirt Kasbah. Afterward, we will continue to Marrakech, where your Merzouga desert experience ends. Thereafter, we will be crossing the Atlas Mountains and the Berber villages between Ouarzazate and Marrakech. Eventually, we will drop you off at your accommodation in Marrakech.
