Destinations Overview Of Our 2 Days Tour From Marrakech To Zagora
Ait Ben Haddou.
Kasbah or Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou is the oldest Kasbah in Morocco. Before, it was the main caravan route between Marrakech and the Sahara. The kasbah dates back to the 17th century when the Atlas ruler, El Glaoui, built it. Therefore, with its architectural design and rich history, it has been considered a UNESCO site since 1987. Besides, this Kasbah is an ideal film site where many international movies are filmed. For example, there is Gladiator, Game of Thrones, Laurence of Arabia, and so on. On this tour of the 2-day tour from Marrakech to Zagora, you explore this unique Kasbah. Also, you meet the remaining Berber families among the 90 families who lived in this Kasbah. They still keep the same traditional life and offer great hospitality to the comers.
Ouarzazate.
Around 30 km from Ait Ben Haddou, there is a town called Ouarzazate. Its name originates from the Berber words, meaning city without noise. Thus, it is also one of the main tourist destinations in the High Atlas Mountains. Ouarzazate is the gateway to the Sahara. It leads both to the Sahara of Erg Chebbi and Erg Chegaga Sahara.
It was once the principal crossroad that African traders took towards the north. Moreover, the town is considered the capital city of Cinema. Marrakech desert tour 2 days highlights a great chance to visit the Atlas Studios in this town. The Studios present all the film materials used to make movies. In addition to that, the town is home to an old kasbah of Taourirte. It dates back to the 19th century. The kasbah overlooks the oasis of palm groves and Atlas mountains. All that makes Ouarzazate another important tourist site in the High Atlas Mountains.
Zagora.
Through the Sahara Gate of Ouarzazate, you will find yourself in Zagora town. Hence, it is a small desert town in the Draa Valley in southeast Morocco. The previous name of Zagora was the Draa. Yet, during the 20th century, its name changed to Zagora. Even so, some locals still call it the Draa in their daily conversation. In the past, the African traders from the sub-Sahara passed through Zagora and Draa Valley to spread around Morocco. Most of those immigrants are now part of the inhabitants along with Berber and Arab tribes. As a tourist destination, tourists come to take a journey in Erg Chegaga of M’Hamid El Ghizlane in the south of Zagora. They travel from Marrakech with tour programs, such as a 2 Days tour from Marrakech to Zagora, and experience a camel trekking trip.
