On the second day of your 15-day desert tour from Casablanca, you will begin by exploring Casablanca, Morocco’s largest city and economic capital. First, you can discover some of the city’s main landmarks before continuing towards Rabat, the capital of Morocco.
Next, you will visit the historic Kasbah of the Udayas, which stands at the mouth of the Bou Regreg River. The Almohads developed the original fortress in the 12th century, and its whitewashed streets and Andalusian-style gardens offer a beautiful introduction to Rabat.
Afterwards, you will discover the Hassan Tower, the famous minaret of an unfinished mosque that dates from the 12th century. Nearby, you can also admire the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, an important example of modern Moroccan architecture.
Finally, you will leave Rabat and continue towards Fes. Along the way, olive groves, farmland, and rolling landscapes will accompany you across northern Morocco. Upon arrival in Fes, you will check in at your hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening.

Today, you will discover Fes with a local guide and explore one of Morocco’s most fascinating historic cities. For centuries, Fes has played an important role in Moroccan history, culture, education, and craftsmanship.
First, you will explore Fes el-Bali, the ancient medina and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you walk through its maze of narrow streets and alleyways, you will discover traditional souks, artisan workshops, historic mosques, fountains, and beautiful riads.
In addition, the medina houses Al Quaraouiyine, founded in 859 and traditionally recognized as one of the world’s oldest continuously operating centers of higher learning.
You will also visit Fes el-Jdid and the historic Mellah, the former Jewish quarter. Along the way, your guide will explain the history, architecture, and traditions that make Fes unique.
Afterwards, you will return to your hotel and have the evening free.

After breakfast, you will leave Fes and travel towards Volubilis, one of Morocco’s most important archaeological sites.
First, you will stop in Moulay Idriss, a historic pilgrimage town built across two hills. The town takes its name from Moulay Idriss I, who founded Morocco’s first major Islamic dynasty.
Next, you will continue to Volubilis, where ancient ruins, impressive mosaics, columns, and monumental remains reveal the importance of the city during Roman times. UNESCO added Volubilis to its World Heritage List in 1997.
During your visit, a local guide can explain the history and symbolism of the ancient monuments and mosaics. Afterwards, you will continue towards Meknes, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities.
Sultan Moulay Ismail made Meknes his capital during his reign from 1672 to 1727. Therefore, the city features impressive gates, walls, granaries, and historic monuments. In particular, you can admire Bab Mansour, one of Morocco’s most remarkable monumental gates.

Today, you will begin one of the most scenic stages of your 15-day desert tour from Casablanca. After breakfast, you will leave Meknes and cross the Middle Atlas Mountains towards the Sahara.
First, you will reach Ifrane, a charming mountain town located at around 1,650 meters above sea level. Because of its alpine-style architecture, green spaces, and cool climate, Ifrane has earned the nickname “Little Switzerland.”
From there, you will continue towards Midelt, where you can enjoy lunch while admiring the surrounding mountain landscapes. After lunch, the road climbs through the Atlas Mountains before descending towards the pre-Saharan region.
Along the way, you will pass through the Ziz Valley, where palm groves stretch along the river and create a striking contrast with the rocky mountains. Then, you will continue through Errachidia and Erfoud, a town famous for its fossils and marble products.
Finally, the landscape will gradually change as the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi appear on the horizon near Merzouga. Upon arrival, you will check in at your hotel and enjoy the peaceful desert atmosphere.

Today, you will explore the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes and experience the traditional lifestyle of the Sahara.
In the morning, your driver will take you around the desert, where you will discover remote landscapes and traditional nomadic settlements. Along the way, you can meet a nomadic family, share Moroccan tea, and learn more about their daily life.
Next, you will visit Khamlia, a small village famous for its Gnaoua music and cultural heritage. Here, local musicians can introduce you to the rhythms and traditions of the community.
After lunch, you will have some time to relax before returning to the dunes for one of the highlights of your desert journey: a camel trek through Erg Chebbi at sunset.
As the sun begins to disappear behind the dunes, the desert takes on beautiful golden and orange tones. Afterwards, you will reach your desert camp, where you can enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner.
Later in the evening, local musicians may gather around the campfire for traditional drumming and music. Finally, you can admire the clear desert sky before spending the night in your camp.

After breakfast, you will leave the Erg Chebbi dunes and travel towards Rissani, a historic town in the Tafilalet region.
First, you can explore the traditional souk and discover local products, spices, dates, handicrafts, and other goods. Historically, Rissani served as an important stop along the trans-Saharan caravan routes, and the town continues to play an important commercial role in the region.
Afterwards, you will continue towards the Todra Gorges, one of the most spectacular natural landscapes in southeastern Morocco.
The Todra River carved these dramatic limestone cliffs through the eastern High Atlas. In some sections, the cliffs rise hundreds of meters above the valley, creating an impressive setting for walking and photography.
Therefore, you can enjoy a short hike through the gorge while admiring the surrounding mountains and traditional Berber villages.

After breakfast, you will continue along the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, one of southern Morocco’s most scenic routes.
First, you will travel through the Dades Valley, where fortified kasbahs, palm groves, orchards, and traditional villages line the route. Along the way, you will visit the historic Amridil Kasbah, one of the region’s best-known examples of traditional southern Moroccan architecture.
Next, you will continue towards the Valley of Roses, where local communities cultivate roses alongside alfalfa, olive trees, fig trees, and other crops.
Furthermore, local cooperatives transform rose petals into products such as rose water, soaps, perfumes, and cosmetics. If conditions allow, you can visit one of these cooperatives and learn more about traditional rose production.
Later, you will reach Ouarzazate, a city on the southern side of the High Atlas Mountains. The city serves as an important gateway between the mountains and the Sahara.
In addition, Ouarzazate has a strong connection with the international film industry. Its dramatic landscapes and kasbah architecture have attracted film productions from around the world for decades.

After breakfast, you will leave Ouarzazate and head towards Ait Benhaddou, one of Morocco’s most famous fortified villages.

UNESCO recognized the site as a World Heritage Site in 1987. Moreover, its distinctive architecture has attracted numerous international film and television productions.
After exploring Ait Benhaddou, you will continue towards Taroudant. Along the way, the landscape gradually changes from the dry mountain environment around Ouarzazate to the greener agricultural areas of southern Morocco.

After exploring Agadir, you will continue north along the Atlantic coast towards Essaouira.
As you approach Essaouira, you will notice the city’s distinctive whitewashed buildings, blue doors and windows, historic ramparts, and fishing harbor. Historically, Essaouira attracted traders and travelers from different parts of the world, which contributed to its multicultural character.
Upon arrival, you will check in at your hotel. In the evening, you can explore the medina or enjoy fresh seafood near the harbor.

Today offers a relaxing break from the road. You can explore Essaouira at your own pace and choose the activities that interest you most.
First, you can walk through the historic medina, browse local shops, visit small art galleries, or explore the old harbor and city ramparts.
Meanwhile, if you enjoy outdoor activities, you can try windsurfing, kitesurfing, horse riding, camel riding, or quad biking, depending on availability and weather conditions.

Furthermore, the region supports numerous women’s cooperatives that produce traditional argan oil. During a visit to one of these cooperatives, you can learn how local producers process argan fruits and extract the oil using traditional methods.
The cooperatives produce both culinary argan oil and cosmetic products such as soaps, creams, and skincare products.
